The Ukrainian government will close its airports to all Russian airlines starting October 25. Russian planes bearing soldiers or military cargo have also been barred from Ukrainian airspace.
The ban comes as a result of continued Russian support for Russian-Ukrainian separatists in Ukraine’s South-Eastern regions. Though fighting slowed in the fall, the tension between the two nations has spilled over into the economic realm. The announcement to ban air traffic followed sanctions against over 100 Russian companies this September.
