After proposition 215 was ratified in the state of California in 1996, marijuana was legalized for medicinal use. Cannabis farms have been an ever growing source of employment for many and in 2013 a whopping $1.64 billion in sales for the state alone. There are medical dispensaries all over the state which cater to thousands of patients with ailments and disorders ranging from back pain and nausea to epilepsy and cancer. It had been an extremely lucrative underground business, but it is becoming more and more above ground in recent years.
