Child-trafficking Bust

Officials in China rescued 178 children from two child-trafficking rings after a six-month investigation in December. Police arrested 608 suspects after an investigation coordinating over 5,000 officers from police forces in ten provinces.

The bust was the latest arrest in China’s campaign on human trafficking. Since the government launched the campaign in April 2009, over 50,000 suspects have been arrested while 18,000 children and 35,000 women have been rescued according to China’s Ministry of Public Security.
